Saputara Lake


Saputara Lake lies about 1.5 km away from Saputara hill station and is considered as a popular picnic spot of the Saputara Valley. Surrounded with greenery, this man-made lake is popular for boating. Various children's parks and playgrounds are located close to this lake.

Many boating clubs located near the lake offer row boats, along with paddle and sail boats. Apt time to visit the lake is just after the monsoon months.

Sabarmati Riverfront


Sabarmati Riverfront is developed on one of the biggest river Sabarmati, in of Gujarat. It is an innovative project undertaken by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. 
This is an ideal destination to enjoy picnic with family. It consists of a magnificent walkway over the river Sabarmati. Gardens, esplanades, amusement parks, golf courses, water Sports Park and slum rehabilitation are part of this project. The entire riverfront offers a panoramic view of the city's landscape.

Sayaji Gardens


Sayaji Gardens, popularly known as Kamati Baug, is the largest garden in Western India, spreading over 45 hectares of land. The garden is named after Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, who built it in 1879 on the river Vishwamitri. Besides the rich flora of more than 98 species of trees, this park encompasses two museums, a zoo, a planetarium and a flower clock. A toy train for children is also operational within the park.

Sabarmati Ashram


Sabarmati Ashram, which is located at banks of the Sabarmati River, was found in 1915. This ashram was the residence of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi till 1930. During the time of independence movement, the ashram was referred to as the Satyagrah Ashram. This ashram was the inception point for famous Dandi March in 1930, due to which it has been declared as the national monument.

Dwarkadish Temple 


Dwarkadish Temple, popularly known as the Jagat Temple, was built in the 16th century. The original Dwarkadish Temple was built by the great grandson of Lord Krishna, King Vajranabha. It is a 5 storied temple constructed using sand and limestone. This temple is located in the middle of the town, with a 70.5 metres high spire.

Kankaria Lake


Kankaria Lake, which was earlier known as Hauj-E-Kutub, is the biggest lake in Ahmedabad. During the time of kings, this lake served as the bathing place for all the badshahs. Built by Sultan Kutubuddin in 15th century, this lake consisted of a water purification system. The lake is circular, however, at one point it opens into a walkway, which leads to garden called Nagina Wadi.

Near the lake, there is a gym called Ambubhai Purani Vyayamshala. Today, the lake is a popular picnic spot with lighted walkways and food corners. This lake is located in the southern part of the city in Maninagar area.

GUJARAT TRAVELS


Located on the western coast of India between Maharashtra and Rajasthan, Gujarat didn't feature on the tourist map until recent years. A very successful series of ad campaigns with Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has changed this though, and tourist interest in the state is growing. There are actually some amazing places to visit in Gujarat, with diverse attractions such as handicrafts, architecture, temples, and wildlife. It's worthwhile getting out and about, away from the major cities, and exploring.

Rann of Kutch                White Desert – Great Rann of Kutch


  • A must visit on a trip to Gujarat, Great Rann of Kutch is reputed to be the world’s largest white salt desert. Spanning over an area of 7505 sq km in the western fringes of Gujarat, the desert looks like a diamond under the scorching sun and appears like an eerie under the bluish glow during the night hours. 
  • To witness the best of the white desert, one should visit there during the Rann Utsav, which happens between November and March. 
  • On a visit to the white desert, make a point to enjoy the camel safari. Many villages nearby Kutch like Hodko, Nirona, Mandvi and Bhujodi, has hotels and resorts where you can book a stay when on a trip to Kutch. Apart from the white desert, you can all visit Narayan Sarovar, Koteshwar temple and Bahuchara Mata temple

Gir national parkGir National Park, Junagadh

One of the largest domains of the ferocious Asiatic animals, Gir National Park is a sparkling diamond in the jewels of Gujarat. Along with lions, this dry deciduous forest is home to more than 300 avian species like great horned own, crested serpent eagle and other members of the cat family like leopards. Going by the records of the forest department, there are 29 species of reptiles, 33 species of mammals, 93 species of invertebrates, 96 trees, and 448 flowering plants. Also, the national park is notable for its silk cotton trees; whose bright orange flowers add dashes of color to this dusty brown landscape.
